Martin Karel

Nationality: East German Affiliation: Karl Marx Integrated School

Martin Karel was the child of a party official, but was a problem child at Karl Marx Integrated School. As a student, Karel was accused of criticizing socialism and the current East German regime. He also carries around a knife for self defense.

Martin despises the government because of the corruption. The secret dumping of industrial waste in Bitterfeld caused his cousin along with many in the area to become extremely ill. Because the Stasi wanted it to be secret, his cousin wasn’t allowed better treatment in Berlin and he couldn’t voice criticism. Despite that, he does like the ideals associated with socialism, and wished that someone could correct the problems brought about by the Stasi being the one upholding them.
