Emil

A mysterious creature that 2B and 9S discover emerging from inside a machine lifeform. While he calls himself Emil, his true identity is a mystery. He harbors latent magical power, but most of his memory is gone due to the long years that have passed.

Emil is a former human, being thousands of years old. A boy turned into a weapon with the ability to wield magic, he later fused with his sister, giving him his current inhuman appearance. He is the only surviving human during the events of NieR:Automata.
